Privacy notice

We're finalising our privacy notice. Until the full text is here, this page sets out what the site keeps about you and who holds it for us. If you have a question, contact us.

What the site keeps about you

  • Your account: your email address, your name if you give it, and your password, which our sign-in service stores in a form that can't be read back. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and name.
  • Your profile, if you fill it in: your country, business status, industry interests, skills, capital range, and the African and diaspora markets you are interested in.
  • What you agreed to and when: the terms of sale, this notice, the newsletter, and the waiver at checkout, each with the wording you saw.
  • What you buy and download: each purchase, its amount, the files you may download, and each download.
  • The opportunities you save.
  • What you send us on the site's forms (a message, an advertising enquiry, your story for an interview, an investment deal, a request to join our WhatsApp groups, or a question for the podcast): your name, your email address and your answers, with whether you asked for the newsletter and, for a story or a question, whether you agreed to be published with your name. A request to join the WhatsApp groups also keeps your WhatsApp number, used only to add you to them. The forms never ask about your ethnic origin, religion or health, and only the AfriTreasure team reads what you send.

Who holds it for us

Supabase stores the site's database and files, in London. Stripe takes payments and keeps your card details; we never see them. Resend sends our emails, and Vercel runs the site. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that each form on the site is sent by a person, not a robot.

Your choices now

Under Your account → Profile you can change your profile, stop the newsletter, and see every consent you have given.
